Platinum rhodium thermocouple is precious metal thermocouple. The diameter of the coupling wire is specified as 0.5mm, and the allowable deviation is - 0.015mm. The nominal chemical composition of the positive electrode is platinum rhodium alloy, including 30% rhodium, 70% platinum, and the negative electrode is platinum rhodium alloy, containing 6% rhodium. Therefore, it is commonly known as double platinum rhodium thermocouple. The maximum operating temperature of the thermocouple is 1600 ℃ in the long term and 1800 ℃ in the short term.
Advantages of platinum rhodium thermocouple
Platinum rhodium thermocouples have the advantages of the highest accuracy, the best stability, wide temperature measurement range, long service life, high temperature upper limit, etc. It can be used in oxidizing and inert gases, or in vacuum for a short time, but not in reducing gases or gases containing metal or non-metal vapor. An obvious advantage of B-type thermocouple is that it does not need compensation wire, because the thermal potential is less than 3 μ V in the range of 0 ~ 50 ℃.
Disadvantages: the disadvantages of platinum rhodium thermocouples are thermal potential, small thermoelectric potential rate, low sensitivity, low mechanical strength at high temperature, very sensitive to pollution, expensive precious metal materials, so a large one-time investment. (slow reaction speed)
The working principle of the platinum rhodium thermocouple is that when the two ends of the conductor with two different components are connected to the synthetic circuit, when the temperature of the two junction points is different, the thermal current will be generated in the circuit. If there is a temperature difference between the working end and the reference end of the thermocouple, the display instrument will indicate the temperature corresponding to the thermoelectric potential generated by the thermocouple.
Selection of platinum rhodium thermocouple: it is recommended to use single platinum rhodium thermocouple (Platinum Rhodium 10 platinum) when the measured temperature is normal at 1000-1300 ℃, and double platinum rhodium thermocouple (platinum rhodium 30 platinum rhodium 6) when the measured temperature is normal at 1200-1600 ℃, so as to ensure the service life of platinum rhodium thermocouple within the temperature range used.
