              How to implement the fixed point calibration service of thermocouples






              Thermocouple calibration laboratory calibrates the following types of thermocouples:




              Basic metals




              Specified letters (E, J, K, N, t)




              Specify non alphabetic (w / re, IR / Rh, Pt / RH) precious metals (s, R, b)




              Pure metal (Au / Pt, Pt / PD)




              Calibration services for all common types of thermocouples are provided by NIST in the range - 196 ° C to + 2100 ° C. The temperature range for a particular calibration depends on the type of wire or thermocouple submitted.




              Thermocouples can be calibrated by comparison or fixed point, depending on the type of thermocouple, temperature range, and required accuracy. Both methods can be traced back to the international temperature scale (ITS-90) in 1990. Comparison calibration of thermocouple wires uses reference thermocouples maintained at NIST. The fixed-point calibration of thermocouples uses ITS-90's four defined temperatures: the freezing points of zinc, aluminum, silver and gold.








              Single leg thermocouples are tested for NIST maintained platinum thermoelectric reference standard pt-67 by the first or second method.




              NIST thermocouple calibration requires only bare wire. We hope that customers will not send ceramic insulation and protective tubes as they may be damaged during transportation. If thermocouples are shipped in mounting bases such as protective tube assemblies, special dismantling charges may apply and the parts will be returned unassembled.




              The minimum length of thermocouple wire to be submitted for calibration shall be at least: comparative calibration
